最後的決定五個字聽起來沒什麼不對,那final decision 呢?
The phrase final decision is hugely popular, but it’s
pleonasm: final adds nothing to decision because decisions are by
definition.
也就是說‘決定’(decision) 這字就已經有‘最後’的意思了,前面加上final 顯得累贅(並沒有錯)。(除非句子裡有提到‘先前的決定’﹝previous decision﹞,那樣才會有‘最後的決定’ ﹝final
decision﹞)。
